The Red Sox had trouble hitting, pitching and playing defense today.
Hitting: The Sox mustered 5 singles (3 by Pedroia) and one double (V-Mart). Francisco Liriano was solid: 7 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 8 K.
Defense: Bill Hall, Victor Martinez and Adrian Beltre each committed an error. Beltre's throwing error in the 6th indirectly accounted for two runs.
Pitching: Tim Wakefield gave up 6 runs on 10 hits in 5.1 innings. Scott Schoeneweis gave up a 2-run HR to Michael Cuddayer in the 7th. The only Twins starte w/o a hit was Joe Mauer. Go figure.
Mike Lowell was the DH in place of David Ortiz. He was 1-4 with 1 K. Mike Cameron was scratched from the line-up with an abdominal strain.
