We love our Red Sox. We go nuts for them. We get tattoos of them (even tramp stamps). And we even shell out ungodly amounts of money for them.
After a year out of the top spot, Fenway Park is once again the most expensive ballpark to see a game in America.
According to the latest Team Marketing Report, it now costs $334.78 to take a family of four to a game at Fenway.
That's about $5 more than seeing the Cubs at Wrigley Field in Chicago and $18 more than watching the New York Yankees in the Bronx.
$335 for a baseball game. Here's where it all goes:
- Two adult average price tickets
- Two child average price tickets
- Four small soft drinks
- Two small beers
- Four hot dogs
- Two programs
- Parking
Honestly... that's a bit overboard. $335 for a family of 4? The average American family makes somewhere in the $65,000 range. After taxes, that's about $44,000. That's a take-home salary of $846 a week... before you get any other deductions (health coverage, 401k, etc).
Now you gotta take about half of what you make in a week to go to a Sox game?
I see a lot of families at those games. Think about all these numbers when you see them there. People sacrifice a lot to go see their favorite team.
Keep that in mind next time some player starts bitching about his job.
