Things were looking great for the Sox until the best reliever, previous to today, just blew it. Clay Buchholz gave up 3 runs to Toronto to tie the game and left after 5. Bobby Jenks came in for the 7th and layed an egg. Four runs later, and the Jays killed all but little hope for a win .
Marco Scutaro came through big, driving in 2 of the 3 Sox runs in the 8th inning rally to pull with one run at 7-6. Pap continued to look good, pitching a scoreless 9th, leaving a chance for a comback with the heart top of the order coming up. They blew it.
The 9th inning effort was awful, lacking any fight and intensity. Crawford looked absolutely terrible, topping his 0-5 night off with a three pitch strikeout to lead off the inning. Pedey grounded out on a shoelace height pitch and Gonzo followed with a groundout to first to end it. All 3 batters swung at pitches out of the zone and just looked foolish.
I've had enough for tonight. Things better turn around quickly, very quickly.
