This morning we learned who our starting shortstop is going to be. Now, from the Globe's Pete Abe, comes news that the Sox rotation is unofficially set:
So the rotation is set up as Lester, Beckett, Buchholz, Doubront, Bard. It hasn't been announced as such, but it's probably no coincidence Doubront is pitching in the minors instead of against the Jays.
No one outside of the Doubront household is thrilled to see his name in the rotation. But it could be worse. Much, much worse. You could see "Lackey" listed there.
Doubront (and Bard, to a lesser extent) is getting his chance to sink or swin. Dice-K is lurching in the shadows, biding his time. Once he's cleared and ready, it's going to be mighty interesting to see how this all plays out.
Assuming, of course, that both Bard and Felix aren't awful. And we don't get hammered with a ton of injuries. Whatever. I choose to be positive right now.
And while we celebrate finally having an actual pitching rotation, be sure to keep Alfredo Aceves in your thoughts.
