During a morning press conference, Bobby Valentine clarified his comments about Kevin Youkilis. Here's the Twitter play-by-play, courtesy Tom Caron:
Valentine said his comments were "misinterpreted. It wasn't meant to motivate. That's not the way it's done.
Valentine said his comments were answering a question that was "jabbing at him (Youkilis.) I was trying to smooth it over. I guess I didn't"
Valentine: "I totally apologized. The last thing I want Youk to think is that I was questioning him....
Valentine: "I don't know if he accepted my apology. It was sincere."
I know everyone is calling for Valentine's head, but I believe his story. The comments were so absurd, this is the only possible explanation.
Valentine isn't that stupid.
