After every series, we'll take stock of how each individual and group performance affects their overall value.
Offense
Mike Aviles: He has been on a steady slope down, but did slightly raise his average after a 3-for-8 game 3. The Sox need him to get back to where he was a week ago and get things started from the top spot.
Ryan Sweeney: Still lovin' what I'm seeing from Sweeney
Dustin Pedroia: Pedey has brought his average back above .300 and extended his hitting streak to 7 games. His glove have been stellar and he is giving it his all at the plate.
Adrian Gonzalez: The time to worry is very near. The strikeout against Chris Davis is immediate cause for concern. At least he is doing better than Pujols.
David Ortiz: Papi came up big in the 8th in yesterday's game, but didn't contribute much in the previous 2. He is still having a great season, producing a bulk of the Sox offense.
Cody Ross: The strikeout machine. Ross has struck out 32 times in 26 games. His 5 homers and 20 RBI are not making up for it.
Jarrod Saltalamacchia: He is staying consistent at a .235-.240 range, and it is killing the bottom of the lineup. He is a big hole in the lineup where production is needed.
Will Middlebrooks: This guy is a great ball player and has all of the tools that will fit well in Boston. A huge grand-slam in game 3 gave the Sox a fighting chance in the series.
Marlon Byrd: I like Marlon Byrd, just not his numbers at the plate. 1-for-13 was a terrible showing against the O's.
The bench: McDonald did all he could on the mound but could not deliver at the plate. Nick Punto put up the usual 0'fer performance.
Starting Pitching
Lester was the top performer in the rotation against the O's and that is nothing to be happy about. Everyone sucked and time is running out to work out the kinks.
Bullpen
The bullpen is pitching their hearts out with no reward. These guys are finally doing what was needed and the offense and starting pitching can't get a damn thing going.
Managing
You can't blame Bobby for this. He is as frustrated as we are and he is trying to make anything work. You can only say so much to you under-performing team.
