The Matchup
Last time
The Red Sox won 2 of a 3-game series at Fenway at the end of June. Big Papi contributed 2 homers in the series, and Adrian Gonzalez chipped in with 5 RBI. Doubront had a tough outing in the first game, resulting in the only loss in the series for the Sox. Dice-K followed with a very good 5 2/3 innings outing that could very well be his last (hopefully) in a Red Sox uniform. Jon Lester closed out the series with a not-so-strong 7 inning outing (7 H, 4 R, 4 ER), but did grab his 5th and most recent win of the season.
This time
Laser Show: Adrian Gonzalez & Cody Ross
Don't Fall Behind: Carlos Villanueva
Since transitioning from the bullpen to the starting rotation, Carlos Villanueva has pitched very well. The Red Sox have not seen him much this season or in his career. Nick Punto got the best of him, by hitting that deep solo homer to right in Toronto this season. Villanueva will give the Jays the best chance to win in this series.
How we see it goin' down
The Red Sox have a great chance to win this series and I have been thinking 2 out of 3 for this series all week. Everyone surrounding me is chalking this one up as a sweep. I am reluctant to go with sweep, especially with uncertainty of which Josh Beckett will show up and Lester going on Sunday. I'm going to stick with 2 win and if is a sweep for the Red Sox, well, I will say, "Kudos to you, Red Sox".
