This was another game where each offense sucked. The Red Sox put up 2 runs, and it was good enough for the 2-1 victory in 10 innings. The Sox split the series with Seattle, which should have been an easy series win for the Red Sox, but we'll have to settle.
The Mariners jumped on the board in the 3rd by way of a Ichiro sac fly. Even though the Mariners only scored 1 run, Doubront looked terrible. Doubront lasted only 4 1/3, throwing 103 pitches, giving up the lone run, 3 hits, 5 walks, and struck out 4. He has taken a big step back and is faltering to bad teams like Seattle.
When all hope was almost lost in the game, Pedey put the Sox on the board with a solo homer to left in the 8th. Atchison and Padilla combined for 3 scoreless innings, holding the tie in tact to force extras. Big Papi drove in Ryan Kalish in the 10th by way of a sac-fly. Aceves picked up his 19th save of the year and did it with ease, needing only 5 pitches to do it.
The Sox will move on to Oakland, re-uniting with old friend, Josh Reddick. The Red Sox should win that series, but who the hell knows with this team.
