The Red Sox didn't have much of a chance against Hiroki Kuroda as they drop the final game of the series, 4-1.
Kuroda held the Sox to just 2 hits through the first 6 innings, a Punto single in the 3rd and a Saltalamacchia single in the 5th. Adrian Gonzalez puts the Sox on the board in the 7th by hitting another homer, a solo shot to right off of Kuroda. That turned out to be the only run the Sox could muster up. Lavarnway added another single after the homer and Crawford singled in the ninth to close the book on the Sox' offense.
Josh Beckett wasn't as horrible as he normally has been, he was just not good. Beckett picked up his 11th loss of the season after pitching 6 innings, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits, 3 walks, and striking out 6. Beckett gave up 2 home runs in his outing, both solo home runs to Ichiro Suzuki. The Yankees had to go and trade for Ichiro. Miller and Tazawa combined for a score-less 7th and 8th.
That was just a horrible game to watch for Red Sox fans. They have all been horrible games to watch.
