Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
Dustin Pedroia didn’t want to talk about player meetings or photo ops with Bobby Valentine prior to Tuesday night’s game against the Orioles.
After the Red Sox had their brains beaten in by the O’s by a 7-1 score, though, Pedroia was willing to finally open up a little bit about a Yahoo! Sports report that the second baseman and Adrian Gonzalez were trying to get Valentine fired during a late July meeting with Sox management and ownership.Pedroia told CSNNE.com that “I just want to play baseball, man” when asked about it prior to the game. Afterwards, he denied he was trying to get Valentine fired.
“I don’t want Bobby to get fired,” said Pedroia. “We haven’t played well . . . that’s the bottom line. I’m not blaming Bobby and I don’t think anybody does. It’s on the players."Last year wasn’t on Tito [Francona]. I know he took it hard. We all did. But, geez, this is on the players.”
I don't know who to believe about this story, and I am starting to not give a shit about it. This season has been full of drama and has lacked good baseball and I have just lost all interest in the remaining 6 weeks of the season. All of this bitching and moaning about how the players don't like Bobby and Bobby not being able to keep his damn mouth shut about anything is so damn annoying. Makes for good reality TV on the Soap Opera network.
This team, players and manager, should shut the hell up about everything and just play baseball as they are paid to do. Leave all the "I don't like our manager, I don't want to play for him" bullshit to the little league players.
Whether it happened or not, this team has lost a lot of interest from fans and lost a lot of fans.
