The ageless wonder Omar Visquel hits an RBI single off of Jon Lester in the seventh and Adeiny Hechavarria hits a two run home run for more cushion as the Sox continue to struggle in a 5-0 loss for Toronto.
All of that was with 2 outs in the seventh but before that it was a very nice outing for Lester as he held them to just three baserunners before that. His final stat line: 7 IP, 3 ER, 4 H, 7 SO, 1 BB.
The Sox offense was pretty bad again as they couldn't string together few hits at all. They finished 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position. Dustin Pedroia was the only one getting multiple hits as he went 2-for-4. They struggled against Brandon Morrow but they were able to work the count and get him out after six innings. Of course they couldn't do much with the Jays bullpen which included old friends Darren Oliver & the winning pitcher, Brandon Lyon.
Speaking of bullpens, Daniel Bard came in the seventh with awful pitching and a God awful fu man chu. He threw six pitches and gave up back to back hits and a four pitch walk. Andrew Miller & Scott Atichson came in and cleaned up the mess left by Bard but Moises Sierra managed to get a couple RBIs to make it 5-0.
The loss clinched the fact the Sox can finish no better than .500 and odds are tomorrow will clinch the Sox the losing record. Couple this with the Patriots loss and it was a pretty crappy day for Boston sports.
