The 2012 season has mercifully come to a close, as the Yankees defeated the Sox 14-2 in the Bronx tonight.
Everything about the game went as expected:
- Daisuke Matsuzaka was awful, giving up five runs and failing to get out of the 3rd inning
- The AAA lineup couldn't keep up with Hiroki Kuroda
- Relievers not named Scott Atchison or Junichi Tazawa struggled
- Bobby Valentine looked miserable, lost, and out of place
But whatever, it's all behind us now. Let's look ahead to 2013. Ready yourself for the Bobby V firing tomorrow or Friday, then a feel-good signing or two in the form of David Ortiz and/or Cody Ross next week. And then we can anticipate a winter's worth of John Lackey updates.
The Sox finished 69-93, their worst record since 1965. They also hustled their way to an eight-game losing streak. Good riddance.
