A source tells Rob Bradford of WEEI.com (via Twitter) that Jason Bay would be very interested in returning to the Red Sox. Earlier today, the Mets reached an agreement with the outfielder to make him a free agent this winter in exchange for deferring some of the $21MM owed to him. Here's more on the Red Sox..

- The Red Sox have expressed interest in free agent outfielders Torii Hunter and Grady Sizemore, tweets Silverman.
- General Manager Ben Cherington says the club has not yet discussed Bay, tweets Scott Lauber of the Boston Herald.
I'll do my best to hide my anger that he was the person we traded Manny Ramirez for. But during the Jason Bay era in Fenway, he played pretty good. .279/45/154 earned him the sweet deal in New York but after suffering a concussion in his first year, he never really recovered.
But the Sox are rumored to be looking at Torii Hunter & Grady Sizemore, two people that I think will be better than Bay, who is coming off of his worst year professionally, batting .165 in 70 games. If he was willing to take a 1 year/ $5 million deal much similar to what Sizemore took with Cleveland last year, then it would be worth a shot.
If the Sox could sign both Hunter & Bay, that's suddenly a nice veteran laden outfield that can cover some ground. Besides with Kalish having consistent injuries and the other prospects not really standing out, the Sox do need some depth in the outfield.
