Tito announced the lineup for today's 12:05pm game against the Indians. It's virtually the same lineup as yesterdays, except Varitek is heading back to the bench and Salty, behind the plate.
Jon Lester (0-0, 8.44 ERA) will make his second start of the season on Thursday afternoon as the 0-5 Sox look to avoid another sweep, this time at the hands of the Indians.
The lineup is the same as the one from Wednesday night's 8-4 loss to the Indians, with the exception of Jarrod Saltalamacchia replacing Jason Varitek behind the plate. The lineup is as follows: Ellsbury CF, Crawford LF, Pedroia 2B, Gonzalez 1B, Youkilis 3B, Ortiz DH, Drew RF, Saltalamacchia C, Scutaro SS, Lester SP.
Lester will be opposed by Fausto Carmona (0-1, 30.00 ERA), who is 2-3 with a 4.25 ERA in seven career appearances vs, the Red Sox.
Carmona got absolutely lit up on Opening Day, surrendering 10 earned runs to the White Sox in the first 3 innings. Maybe, just maybe, the Sox can use him as the catalyst to kick-start their season.
